Chapter 15: Evolution
How did we get here? And have we arrived at our final evolutionary destination? The word evolution simply means change. As lifeforms on Earth we must be constantly changing to meet the new requirements for living here. Tulmultuous weather patterns, war, disease and constant competition for resources requires us to constantly adapt to our surroundings. In order to adapt, we must be equipped with an abundance of genetic variations to meet and survive any change in our surroundings. Charles Darwin set sail in 1831 to avoid an angry confrontation with his father and came back a changed man. Due to his thoughtful insights we now have a better understanding of where we came from (no, we are NOT descended from apes!) and where we are going. Join me on this journey of discovering our past as well as a glimpse into our future by learning the Fundamental Mechanisms for Evolution.
